Trio (TRT) is a semiconductor services company headquartered in Van Nuys, California, that operates together with its subsidiaries across the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and China. Incorporated in 1958, Trio-Tech International is known for supplying manufacturing, testing, and distribution services to companies in the semiconductor industry. Its work spans both front-end and back-end stages of chip production.
The company runs through four segments: Manufacturing, Testing, Distribution, and Real Estate. In manufacturing, it develops and builds test equipment used in semiconductor production, including leak detectors, autoclaves, centrifuges, burn-in systems and boards, HAST testers, and temperature-controlled chucks. Its testing operations provide electrical, environmental, and burn-in testing for semiconductor makers, integrated device manufacturers, fabless chip companies, and end users of electronic components. Trio also supports customers that prefer an asset-light approach by setting up test facilities on their behalf and offering component-level, package-level, and system-level testing.
Through its distribution business, the company resells environmental chambers, mechanical shock and vibration testers, and other semiconductor equipment, along with components such as connectors, sockets, cables, LCD displays, and touch screen panels. The real estate segment invests in and rents out properties and provides related value-added services. By combining equipment manufacturing, hands-on testing, distribution, and property operations, Trio serves a broad set of customers tied to the design, production, and quality assurance of semiconductors and electronic parts, with a presence in several major Asian manufacturing markets as well as the United States.
