Nuveen S&P 500 Buy-Write Income Fund is a diversified, closed-end management investment company managed by Nuveen Fund Advisors, LLC. The fund's primary investment objective is to provide high current income and gains, with capital appreciation as a secondary objective. BXMX employs a buy-write strategy, also known as a covered call strategy, by investing substantially all of its assets in a portfolio of common stocks included in the S&P 500 Index while simultaneously writing (selling) call options on 100% of the portfolio. This options-writing strategy generates premium income that supplements dividend income from the underlying stock portfolio, potentially providing higher current income than holding stocks alone. The trade-off is that the fund limits its upside participation when stocks rise above the option strike prices. The S&P 500 focus provides exposure to large-cap U.S. equities across diverse sectors. Shares trade on public exchanges and may trade at premiums or discounts to net asset value.
